Everyone has different expectations for what success looks like.

Some people value consistency — steady work, predictable paychecks, and balance between work and home. Others want to be challenged — to keep learning, growing, and stretching themselves. And some are energized by leadership — helping guide teams, shape strategy, or chart the direction of a company.
One mistake I see a lot is people chasing society’s definition of success — believing they have to manage to be successful. But when I’m coaching these individuals, some admit they don’t enjoy managing people or dealing with the tough leadership decisions which is a major problem.
When we dig deeper, we find their sweet spot maybe supporting, advising, or influencing senior leadership — not carrying a formal management title.
No two people truly have the same goals, and that’s a good thing. Reflect and understand your drivers for what leads you to true fulfillment, don’t follow someone else’s expectations for success.
Have a great day!
